Catherine Meyburgh is a director, producer, editor, and projection designer working across documentary, fiction, television, and the stage.

As a film and television editor, she has cut numerous acclaimed narrative features and drama series – including Heartlines, Taste of Rain, Gugu & Andile, Yizo Yizo, Soul City, When We Were Black 2, Zero Tolerance, Sis Dolly, and Crossing the Line – alongside more than 30 award-winning documentaries broadcast and screened internationally (BBC Storyville, Arte, Channel 4, ZDF, SABC, NBC, Berlinale, IDFA, DIFF, and Hot Docs).

As a director and producer, her credits include the multi-award-winning documentary Dying for Gold (co-directed and co-produced with Richard Pakleppa), Kentridge and Dumas in Conversation, Viva Madiba: A Hero for All Seasons, and The Glow of White Women.

In theatre, opera, and the visual arts, Meyburgh is widely recognized for her multi-projection designs. Her stage work includes Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Alban Berg’s Lulu and Wozzeck, and Shostakovich’s The Nose at major international venues such as the Metropolitan Opera (New York), La Scala (Milan), and the New National Theatre (Tokyo). She frequently collaborates with William Kentridge and Philip Miller, notably on The Head & the Load and Nkoli: The Vogue-Opera, both touring internationally in 2026. Her installation and video work has been exhibited at dOKUMENTA, the Smithsonian, Tate Modern, Iziko Museums, the Armory, and the Ruhrtriennale.

Meyburgh actively supports the South African filmmaking community through her involvement with professional organizations, including SAGE, DFA, SWIFT, and RCLA.
