Announcing Klara Marić as our Istrian Heritage Partner
BRUSSELS / KANFANAR – As we finalize preparations for the upcoming Pluartis Symposium in Pula, we are delighted to welcome premier Istrian pasta producer Klara Marić as our official Istrian Heritage Partner. Joining our culinary collaborators alongside olive oil producer Dolija, Klara Marić brings a rich lineage of authentic craftsmanship and gastronomic heritage to our gathering this August.
Preserving the Gastronomic Soul of Istria
Based in Kanfanar, Klara Marić has spent decades preserving and elevating the art of traditional Istrian pasta-making. From classic fuži and hand-rolled pljukanci to traditional šurlice and pasutice, their work honors the time-tested culinary rituals of the Istrian peninsula.
By combining top-tier durum wheat semolina and fresh ingredients with a commitment to traditional production methods – including slow drying to achieve the ideal artisanal texture – Klara Marić transforms simple, honest ingredients into an authentic expression of local identity.

Culture, Memory, and the Table
At Pluartis, we view gastronomy as a vital form of intangible cultural heritage. Food is a living archive – a space where regional values, family narratives, and inherited techniques are passed down across generations. The patience and precision required to preserve traditional culinary forms closely mirror the intellectual and creative rigour we celebrate across the arts and humanities.
Bringing our international symposium participants together around dishes crafted by local master producers provides a tactile, welcoming foundation for dialogue, reflection, and community.
We extend our warm gratitude to Klara Marić for supporting our event and helping us offer our guests a true taste of Istrian tradition during our time in Pula.
