Pluartis Symposium 2026 Concludes in Pula
BRUSSELS / PULA – Following three inspiring days of dialogue from 20 to 22 August, the 2026 edition of the Pluartis Symposium has officially drawn to a close in the historic coastal city of Pula. Organized in academic partnership with the University Juraj Dobrila of Pula as co-organizer and host, this year’s gathering brought together scholars, researchers, and professionals to examine the dynamic intersections of classical philosophy, artificial intelligence, and cultural heritage.
Keynote addresses throughout the symposium were delivered by Prof. Angie Hobbs (University of Sheffield), setting an intellectually rich foundation for the proceedings, while the panel discussions and debates were expertly moderated by Prof. Ante Matan (University of Pula) and Dr. Mitchel Atkinson III (NYU Abu Dhabi).
Three Days of Interdisciplinary Inquiries
- Day 1: Soul, Consciousness, and AI Citizenship – The opening sessions revisited Platonic views on the human soul alongside modern AI citizenship frameworks, opening a vital debate on consciousness-based prerequisites for artificial entities.
- Day 2: Stoic Philosophy in the Age of Algorithms – Day two merged the Stoic principles of Marcus Aurelius with contemporary AI development, analyzing how ancient philosophical resilience and ethics can guide us through complex technological shifts.
- Day 3: Heritage, Space, and Future Horizons – The final day immersed delegates in the rich historical and cultural setting of host city Pula, bringing discussions to a close with a forward-looking session on key takeaways and next steps.
